Increasing the number of data points within IoT-enabled buildings (BIoT) enhances the variety and volume of information that can be collected and communicated by leveraging on the number of sensors and components.

With that, a data fabric is generated everywhere in the environment, where an ecosystem of sensory components in the building become part of the base infrastructure. However unified the whole may appear, the parts each component play are discrete and necessary. Considering the possibilities and flexibility of a digital building with a PoE infrastructure, the more connected a building’s systems are, the greater the variety, volume, and velocity of data generation, and then subsequently there is greater potential for intelligent decision-making.

Unlocking Intelligent Building Insights with Prysmian's PoE Infrastructure

Increasing the number of data points within IoT-enabled buildings (BIoT) goes beyond mere connectivity. It's about enhancing the variety and volume of information collected and communicated. This is achieved by leveraging the multitude of sensors and components strategically placed throughout the building. The true potential emerges when the data starts to flow. A digitally connected building, empowered by PoE infrastructure, unleashes the potential for intelligent decision-making. The increased variety and volume of data open doors to a new era of efficiency, sustainability, and adaptability.

OpenArch’s Environmental Sensor enables any intelligent building to precisely measure a variety of essential environmental parameters including:

DBS

The PoEasy environmental sensor is designed for intelligent building projects, offering precise measurements of key parameters like PIR occupancy, ambient light, temperature, CCT color, humidity, light flicker, VOC gases, and ambient noise levels. The ceiling recessed Power over Ethernet (PoE) sensor is easily powered by standard Power over Ethernet network switches, simplifying installation with standard Cat6/6A cabling.

Each multi-sensor provides Bluetooth connectivity for beacon marketing and wayfinding applications, eliminating the need for separate beacons. Programming and control are facilitated through a standard BLE network. The sensor boasts advanced movement detection with up to 6m coverage, optimized PIR performance, and flexible programmable timing for absence or presence detection. The daylight feature ensures constant light levels, particularly useful for daylight linking.

The built-in temperature and humidity sensor allows for thermal mapping within various building zones, ensuring comfort and safety. For circadian lighting applications, an advanced color sensor is included to meet the Well Building V2 standard, providing assurance of optimal lighting conditions. Overall, the PoEasy environmental sensor offers a comprehensive and efficient solution for intelligent building management.

The PoEasy® IoT Gateway is a high-performance device that connects to two RF control protocols, translating EnOcean Radio Communication, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Zigbee, and Thread data into standard IP Ethernet packets. Powered by 802.3 Power over Ethernet (PoE), the gateway is designed for DC-based smart digital buildings, allowing rapid deployment without complex wiring.

The gateway seamlessly integrates into Building Management Systems (BMS) or intelligent building solutions, supporting cloud connectivity through standard protocols like MQTT. Its embedded design with a high-performance gateway MCU enables multiple client connections and accommodates standard EnOcean and manufacturer-specific profiles, as well as BLE beacons, Thread, and Zigbee mesh networks. Overall, the PoEasy® IoT Gateway provides a versatile and efficient solution for connecting diverse IoT devices in smart building environments.
